How to Make Easels For Your Picture Frames Out Of A Wire Hanger

As I use reclaimed barn wood and farm wood to make picture frames, I always think of recycling. This is a project that some customers ask me because most of our larger frames comes with a wire hanger in the back, but smaller frames comes with saw-tooth hanger to hang on the wall. They want to know how they can display their small picture frames on your tables? Today, I can show you how to make easels from a wire hanger that we all have around the house so you can display your photos on your tables.

I am very happy that the majority of our work now is with reclaimed barn wood that usually comes from Michigan and Indiana. Our California farm wood are also very popular. Besides these, my customers are enjoying mostly my hand painted rustic picture frames that is only made for them and is one of a kind. I look at the art and use complimentary colors to their art. Sometimes, it feels that the frame becomes part of the art. I am so glad that my customers are very satisfied with the work I do and appreciate the artistic side of my work.

Wish everyone happy holidays.

How Groupon helped my business

My goal was to introduce my eco-rustic and barn wood custom picture frames. Like any other curious business owner I gave Groupon a try. I really didn’t know what to expect. I was thinking what if I sold thousands; how am I going to fulfill that. But realistically, I told myself any number of sale would mean that many number of my frames would be in people’s homes or offices. I was really happy with the outcome. The deal was on for four days and sold one hundred and thirty five (135) deals.

It has been a couple of weeks now, and I am happy to see so many enthusiastic customers walk in to my shop. This deal raised awareness about my business throughout the San Francisco region, plus some extra cash. I would recommend it to all, but specially to local, businesses to try Groupon.

How do I choose the right color for my frame?

Choosing the right colors for your picture frame can be a daunting task. You have to decide whether you want your framed images to blend in with the surroundings, or stand out as a focal point in the room where it is being displayed. Blue Dot Framing can help you with difficult color decisions, but here are a few friendly tips to get you thinking:

  • A black frame is the “safest” choice for framing photography, small pieces of art, drawings, posters, and printed media.
  • With original art on canvas, like oil paintings, the possibilities are limitless. You can choose an ornate gold frame, a light or dark wood frame, a hand-carved rustic frame, or painted frame designed to match your decor.
  • Watercolor paintings look good framed with natural or stained wood frames.
  • Children’s art looks great framed in pastel colors.
